Job Description

The Ministry of Climate Change & Environmental Coordination, Government of Pakistan, invites applications for the position of Chairperson of the Pakistan Climate Change Authority. The selected candidate will provide strategic leadership in climate policy, environmental governance, sustainable development initiatives, climate finance, and institutional transformation. The role requires a distinguished professional with extensive experience in climate change, environmental management, public policy, and senior-level leadership.

Qualification Requirements

Candidates must possess a:

  • PhD, MPhil, or Master's Degree in any of the following disciplines:

    • Climate Change

    • Environmental Sciences

    • Environmental Engineering

    • Renewable Energy

    • Natural Resource Management

    • Economics

    • Environmental Laws

    • Finance Management Sciences

    • Other relevant disciplines

Additional Preference

  • Degree from a nationally or internationally recognized high-ranking university.

  • Publications in high-impact national or international research journals.

  • Joint degrees or advanced qualifications in Finance and Law will be considered an added advantage.

Experience Required

General Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience in climate change and environmental-related fields.

Relevant Experience

  • At least 10 years of professional experience, including:

    • Minimum 3 years in senior management positions.

    • Policy formulation and implementation.

    • Strategic planning and governance.

    • Development and execution of climate-focused initiatives.

Preferred Exposure

Experience with:

  • United Nations organizations.

  • Climate-related international organizations.

  • Climate finance institutions.

  • Capital markets and investment banking.

  • Carbon finance.

  • Climate law firms.

  • Climate consulting firms.

  • Environmental and sustainability organizations.

  • Lead the Pakistan Climate Change Authority.
